Spirit Calling

In this time of chaos, scare, and disappointment, many of us are experiencing feelings of confusion, despair, anger, fear, and animus. We’re seeking peace of mind, ways to ground ourselves, faith in better times ahead, and a sense of community. But in the midst of all these overwhelming emotions, if we listen carefully, there is a presence calling out that we can use in this moment to evolve and elevate.
Ritu Bhasin and Vernā Myers, professional colleagues and the closest of friends for over 15 years, have been answering this call by relying on Spirit, as they have faced difficulties throughout their personal and professional lives. And while they’re from different faiths, cultural backgrounds, nations, and generations, this is what they’ve been respectively turning to as darkness swirls around the world – in seeking hope, light, guidance, service, and fellowship.
Inspired by their experiences with Spirit, they’ve created “Spirit Calling,” a membership circle, to share the soulful lessons they’ve learned, continue to grow, and encourage others to do the same.
About the Membership Circle
Spirit Calling will meet virtually over Zoom for six one-hour sessions between May and November 2025 (dates/times are noted in the Frequently Asked Questions section below) and will provide members who are on their own spiritual journeys with:
- a safe space to be in fellowship with others who are interested in exploring spiritual and mindfulness insights
- tools to find rest, restoration, and purposeful service in the midst of the brokenness we’re experiencing
- the blessings of being in community with others whose hearts and minds are open to receiving spiritual wisdom
During these interactive sessions, Ritu and Verna will share, and invite insights, on subjects like:
- how to address loss, grief, resistance, regret, feelings of worthlessness, anger, and fear
- healing our ancestral wounds and trauma
- tools for practicing mindfulness, compassion, courage, gratitude, humility, and abundance (vs. scarcity)
- the beauty of tapping into expanded cosmic awareness and presence and being carried by our ancestors
- how to access authentic power and experience belonging
Spirit Calling will be a rich environment for members to ask questions and discuss the insights they have gained from their own life journeys.

Vernā Myers
Vernā is a well-known advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. For decades, she has been breaking through personal, interpersonal, and structural barriers of exclusion and inequity by engaging people from different backgrounds in open, honest, and compassionate conversations. She was raised Christian in a traditional Black Baptist church. While her spiritual journey has included different non-denominational Christian experiences that she cherishes and from which she draws. Presently, she does not claim a specific religion but embraces spiritual wisdom from many different religious traditions on a path of self-evolution, sacred service, and living according to universal principles. She believes in the power of prayer, mindfulness, and unconditional love.

Ritu Bhasin
Ritu is an award-winning speaker, author, and expert in belonging, inclusion, leadership, and empowerment. Ritu was born in Toronto, Canada to Sikh immigrant parents from India. While growing up, she rejected her faith and cultural identities because of her experiences with racist childhood bullying. But over the course of her adulthood, she has experienced a profound soul awakening and has deeply embraced both Sikhism and tenants of Indian spirituality. You’ll often hear Ritu share that the greatest gift she has received is her unwavering belief in the Divine – it’s her anchor in life. Ritu still lives in Toronto but travels the world to be in nature, build soul connections with others, eat with her heart, and dance her tail off – all Divine experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions
The circle is intended to be an open, inclusive, non-sectarian space for members to share their insights and questions. Ritu and Vernā draw their awareness, understanding, and perspectives from different faith traditions, cultures, and life experiences. The goal of the circle is for Ritu and Vernā to humbly share what they have learned about staying grounded and maintaining joy in challenging times and situations and to encourage members to do the same. The circle is not a place for proselytizing or dogma, religious or otherwise.
If you are interested in exploring ways to ground yourself, improve your mental health, and encourage your internal evolution beyond the physical and secular, Spirit Calling is for you. Or if you are already on your spiritual journey and want to be in community with others to share and deepen that journey, you will enjoy being a member of Spirit Calling. Ultimately, Spirit Calling’s purpose is to create a safe community that we can rely on for hope and inspiration during this difficult time.
There is no hierarchy when it comes to authentic spirituality. Those in leadership positions are absolutely welcome, but so are those who have no leadership role or affiliation with a specific type of organization. We deeply value diversity and warmly welcome people from across all faiths, backgrounds, genders, cultural identities, and ages to join us to enrich our conversations. We have created a sliding scale for fees because we know that we are differently situated financially and we want to make it possible for all who are interested to become members of the circle.
Ritu and Vernā will be holding a (free) webinar via Zoom on April 30, 2025 from 12-12:30pm ET to share a bit more about the purpose of Spirit Calling and the areas they’ll be exploring during the six sessions coming up. Come ready to ask lots of questions! To register, visit here.
